The 2Racks Rap Contest premiers in Los Angeles on November 13th at the historic Airliner in Lincoln Heights.   Presented by Inhouse Talent and hosted by Revolutionary Poet Sellassie, The 2Racks Rap Contest is a fast-paced, single-elimination contest where the top upcoming artists will perform their original music, competing for cash prizes.  Designed to expose interesting and determined emerging artists, cultivate relationships, and build community among independents, 2Racks is the newest component from Inhouse Talent, creating a movement where emerging artists thrive, and a place to discover the future in underground and independent emcees.

The 2Racks Rap Contest boasts industry and celebrity judges Ras Kass, DJ Dense and Matt Perez and host Sellassie in an authentic hip hop environment.   Rapper Ras Kass was born John Austin in Watts, CA; a voracious reader throughout his youth, he adopted his stage name in honor of an African king. After releasing a pair of independent singles, Ras Kass emerged as one of the most highly regarded new rappers in some time, winning particular acclaim for his skills as a lyricist (in the space of six months, he twice earned Rap Pages magazine's Rhyme of the Month award as well as The Source's Hip Hop Quotable honor); his long-awaited debut LP, Soul on Ice, finally appeared on Priority Records in 1996. Rasassination followed two years later. Even though, Ras Kass received numerous setbacks with his label Priority which then merged with Capitol Records. Ras has been able to perservere as an Independent artist implementing his own record label Re-Up Entertainment. Ras Kass has recently released A.D.I.D.A.S a double CD and is working on the new HRSMN album with Kurupt, Canibus and Killah Priest.

DJ Dense is a staple in L.A. nightlife as well as in Urban Radio. If he isn't keeping you noddin’ your head in your car during that notorious L.A. traffic, then you can most definitely catch him at the every Clippers home game, hottest college party, or at the most exclusive and sought-after nightclubs.   Dense has mixed for celebrities superstars such as Ice Cube, Eddie Murphy, Steve Harvey, Tom Cruise, Tyra Banks, and Martin Lawrence just to name a few. He has also done magazine release parties, movie premiers, and award shows.

"Breakbeats and Rhymes" radio hosted by Rebels to the Grain, Matt Perez (MP) and Cheddy, brings you the finest in Hip Hop music and more, broadcasting live late Saturday nights/early Sunday mornings on KPFK, 90.7 f.m. throughout Los Angeles county, Orange county, and San Diego county, and 98.7 f.m. in Santa Barbara, and live worldwide online at KPFK.ORG. Playing everything from New Heat to Classic music, Breakbeats and Rhymes is one of the last “Golden Era, Boom Bap” Hip Hop radio shows of its kind still left on the f.m. dial in Southern California.

The 2Racks Rap Contest host Sellassie is shining as a leading progressive voice in S.F. Bay Hip Hop. With an acclaimed debut release, I’m Tryin’ to Make a Livin’ Not a Killin’, and a new follow-up album, Sins of Your Forefathers, he is carving his niche in Hip Hop. Although inspired and motivated from reading hundreds of books, Sellassie is self-taught and came up on the streets. Sellassie’s lyric is rooted in a deep comprehension of the world around him. He writes on domestic and world politics, international relations and community needs, corporate thuggery and the obstacles independent artists face. He has seen first hand the problems that his music addresses. He has seen black on black crime, he has lost many close friends to homicide, he has seen the drugs and money destroy his community, he has witnessed the decay of Independent Bay Hip Hop. In addition to the new record, Sellassie is building this revolutionary show series WE ALL WE GOT, is working with many social, political and youth based initiatives, and is a contributor to various special projects including Emcees for Peace’s The Matter That Matters CD and the film, “It Doesn’t Cost Nothin’ to Dream.“
